The department of Preservation and Care of Valuables, 2021, Kiryat Yovel, Jerusalem.
The Department of Preservation and Cultivation of Valued Objects is an artistic initiative in the public space, inviting the audience to participate in creating the cultural content of the place. Every person—man, woman, and child—is welcome to bring an object of personal value and "entrust" it to the Department. When handing over the object, the participant is asked to sign a form detailing its emotional and narrative value (not its monetary worth). After the handover, the item is passed to documenters, including painters and a poet at a typewriter, who create an artistic and archival record of the object. The objects and records were displayed in a street gallery throughout the day, and people could return to collect their belongings whenever they wished.
